The Sundance Institute has unveiled the participants for its 2026 Producers Labs, selecting ten promising individuals across feature film and documentary categories. These specialized programs, designed to cultivate independent filmmaking talent, will take place at the Ucross Foundation in Clearmont, Wyoming, offering a robust environment for creative and professional growth. The initiative underscores Sundance's commitment to nurturing diverse voices and innovative storytelling in the cinematic world.

The feature film cohort includes Jaelyn Ellis with 'Likeness,' Kara Grace Miller with 'Make Me a Pizza,' Natalie Remplakowski with 'Sweetwater,' Marie Alyse Rodriguez with 'How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water,' and Sean Weiner with 'The End of All Rivers.' For documentaries, the chosen producers are Chelsea Hernandez with 'The School of Hope,' Vero Kompalic with 'Yosi,' Hansen Lin with 'God Lives Here,' Julia Pontecorvo with 'Unfiltered' (working title), and Cherrelle Swain with 'Southmont Drive.'

These immersive labs are structured to provide comprehensive, project-specific assistance, encompassing one-on-one consultations and group discussions with seasoned producers and industry professionals. Participants will gain invaluable insights and guidance on crucial aspects of film production, including securing financing, navigating market dynamics, refining pitching techniques, and managing the complexities of production. Following the intensive lab period, each producer embarks on a year-long fellowship, ensuring sustained support and development.

A distinguished panel of advisors will lend their expertise to the lab participants. For feature films, mentors include Allison Rose Carter, Deniese Davis, Eugene Pikulin, Lucas Joaquin, and Peter Saraf. Documentary advisors comprise Andrea Meditch, Gema Juárez Allen, Rémi Grellety, Darcy McKinnon, and Lance Kramer. Their collective experience spans a wide array of successful independent films, offering a rich source of knowledge and mentorship.

Kristin Feeley, Director of Documentary Film Program and Artist Programs, and Shira Rockowitz, Director of Feature Film Program Producing and Artist Support, emphasized the exceptional vision and originality present in this year's projects. In a joint statement, they expressed pride in supporting these producers and their ambitious narratives. The Producers Program at the Sundance Institute receives significant backing, primarily from an endowment provided by the Sandra and Malcolm Berman Charitable Foundation. Additional crucial support comes from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Amazon MGM Studios, Wyck Godfrey, RAMO, APM Music, ESME GRACE, and an anonymous benefactor, collectively enabling the institute to continue its vital work in independent film development.
